Tonight's $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-Up had a feel of a turbo tournament for the first two levels. In one stretch we would see four players getting knocked out in rapid succession. Then, nearly an hour would pass until CasChr claimed fifth place giving the Sunday Major a feel of deep stacks and tight-aggressive play once again. Sure enough another 35 minutes would pass until Asul took charge with a double KO getting into heads-up play with yard_warrior. Despite the huge disadvantage starting heads-up play, yard_warrior proved the mightier by claiming the title and $93,000.00 after chopping with Asul.

Team Online's Richard 'Tzen1' Veenman would put in a very deep run at a Sunday Warm-Up title tonight but with the blinds at 10K/20K ante 2K a bad beat would derail that road. helst66 started the betting UTG+1 with a raise to 49,999 as Richard popped it to 369,617 chips all-in. Folded back around to helst66 making the call for less holding pocket tens T♣T♠. Veenman flipped up pocket queens Q♦Q♠ looking for safe passage and near double up in the process. The ten in the middle of the board 2♦J♣T♦4♦J♠ however had other thoughts and three hands later the rest of Veenman's chips were slid to ugulala55's stack finishing the tournament in 56th place ($1,204.92).

Heading into the 40K/80K ante 8K level only 14 players remained, including someone looking to add a second Sunday Warm-Up title to their name. Norway's 'dr. greenish' earned $154K during the January 2011 victory was sitting in 9th out of 14 players when HaffaHaffa tried to slide a shove of 1.03 million past Team Online slayer helst66. But, helst66 held a little under two million chips along with Q♠A♥ making the decision to call easier. HaffaHaffa needed some HelpaHelpa quickly holding A♠8♣. Although the board showed no cards over a nine, a pairing eight was also missing 2♥9♥4♦7♦9♠ as HaffaHaffa took 14th place ($3,012.30).

The remaining 13 would make it to the hourly break as yard warrior holding 6.7 million chips and CasChr with 4.8 million led the pack for the last break before the final table.

With the blinds up to 50K/100K ante 10K ugulala55 would shove 1.62 million over a min-raise by CasChr. BastianX, however crashed the party with a re-shove for a little bit more (1.73 million). CasChr folded as BastianX flipped up big slick K♦A♠ and ugulala55 was stuck with only one live card T♦K♣. No tens on the K♠7♦5♦3♣9♥ board and ugulala55 earned $3,012.30 in 13th place.

Followed quickly by dr.greenish failing in the attempt to repeat as a Sunday Warm-up champ in 12th place $4,016.40 and Finland's PieniFisu in 11th place ($4,016.40) our final table would be set very quickly. Just two hands for hand-for-hand play would commence as the blinds held at 50K/100K ante 10K as elektrikman min-raised from the small blind and helst66 decided to make a move with A♥5♥ shoving for 1.32 million. elektrikman was not playing the part of the bully and made the call holding A♣T♠. A non-stressful A♦9♠6♠8♥3♦ board was laid out as helst66 claimed the bubble boy title and the final table started up below:

(Not-so) Shocking result

As the blinds turned up to 65K/130K ante 13K elektrikman started the bidding with a min-raise from UTG+1 as andyhin22 to the immediate left shoved for 1.19 million folded to Asul in the cutoff holding pocket tens T♦T♥ making the call. andyhin22 showed big slick K♠A♥ and was likely happy for the ace in the door. An equal immediate negative reaction came out after the ten hit the end of the flop A♣5♥T♣2♣9♥ giving Asul the winning set and knocking out andyhin22 in ninth place ($5,355.20). A second big final table for andyhin22 who made the Event #11 2011 WCOOP final table claiming $21K in the process.

All bow to Asul

Asul sounds like an authoritative name, perhaps a mythological creature towering over inhabitants of a long-lost land. This Asul would take the early lead of the Sunday Warm-up after taking on omerady for a 3.4 million chip pot. With the blinds at 65K/130K ante 13K Asul would min-raise from UTG+1 as it folded to omerady in the big blind who shoved for 1.64 million as Asul snap-called with aces A♠A♦ and despite a queen hitting the flop T♠7♣Q♥K♥5♥ Asul's aces claimed the pot giving the chip leader a second straight elimination as omerady claimed eighth place ($8,367.50).

The 65K/130K ante 13K blind level seemed to cull the shorter stacks into the larger ones as elektrikman min-raised from the small blind and BastianX shoved from the big blind for 1.21 million as elektrikman felt K♥T♣ was worth a call. It was the correct one as BastianX showed K♦8♥ and failed to catch up to the kicker on the 6♠3♠J♣4♣7♣ board. Seventh place and $15,061.50 was politely shipped to BastianX.

Six minute royal rumble

It can take about six minutes to whip up a decent omelet or if you are the running type, to dash a mile. Tonight, four players from the Sunday Warm-up final table were eliminated in the time it takes this scribe to dash 1.6km (and be complete out of breath afterwards). Watch below as yard-warrior runs ShaiStar off the table in sixth place:

yard-warrior's 2♠A♣ did not require help to beat ShaiStar's Q♦J♠ but two aces would hit the turn and river 8♠9♥8♥A♥A♠ to ship the 2.96 million chip pot to yard-warrior as ShairStar's light was extinguished in sixth place ($21,755.50).

Break of silence

In stark contrast, the remainder of the hour would be played in relative silence as the players went into the break with five left. After their return CasChr got an itch for some action and shoved for 2.67 million from the big blind after kyu1301 played the role of the bully by raising to 500,000. Guess it is not bullying if you have the cards, as kyu1301 quickly called with big slick K♥A♥. CasChr needed clubs in a hurry holding 3♣A♣ and got a couple on the T♠2♦K♣Q♣ board. But, the 6♦ river could not complete the comeback as CasChr took down $28,449.50 in fifth place.

Asul rules

After a staggering 42 minutes of no eliminations Asul finally broke the kinship our final four had seemed to develop after surviving several all-ins and rising blinds. Watch below the 18.1 million chip hand that shook more than a few observers awake:

Everyone caught a big hand at the right (wrong) time as Asul covered all bets. The board wasted no time connecting with Asul's big slick putting an ace and king on the K♥A♦J♦2♦9♦. Just to show dominance, Asul would end up with the nut flush as we cut the final four in half after elektrikman received $38,490.50 in fourth place and by chip count, kyu1301 earned $55,225.50 in third place.

Both players quickly hashed out a deal which left $10,000.00 on the table for tonight's champion:

Playing for the win

After the long stretch between ShaiStar and CasChr leaving the tournament, then the double elimination by Asul, heads-up play looked ripe for a quick ending. Asul held a 25.1 to 8.2 million chip advantage with blinds at 200K/400K ante 40K to start.

But, after 16 hands yard_warrior would prove the $10,000.00 was worth fighting over after the two flipped for a 18.1 million chip pot. yard_warrior's pocket fours 4♥4♠ managed to sail through the 8♦T♣5♦3♣9♦ board as Asul's Q♠K♥ gave yard_warrior the chip lead which would not be relinquished.

Fifteen minutes later as the blinds moved up to 250K/500K ante 50K yard_warrior had stretched the lead to 26.6 million to Asul's 6.8 million as they decided once again to set things preflop. Asul's 5♣A♠ would not find any light on the J♠9♥8♣2♣K♥ board as yard_warrior's J♥A♥ caught top pair on the flop to lock up the additional $10,000.00 and this week's Sunday Warm-Up title!
